Bids & Grace are ready to party!

Grace and I were off out to go party at the WTA Pre-Wimbledon Party and so we got all dressed up in our glad rags. Grace was all twisted out, having used Carol's Daughter Hair Milk (leave-in conditioner) and the Hair Milk pudding for the twists. A proper review will follow, but I wasn't left with very defined hair and it was a little crunchy so I might mix up the products next time, probably won't use them together. Was happy with the results though, I was going for the big hair look so Grace not being super-defined was not a big issue for me.

Had to dig deep in my wardrobe for this number, I love this Lalesso dress, but I was holding in my stomach for the whole evening haha! I love the kanga print and everyone kept asking me what the words on the dress meant - I have no idea and was so tempted to make something up ha!

Check me out trying to be cute!

Night time maintenance and a new style for Grace

Night time maintenance toolkit
I thought I would post about my night time routine and what I do to maintain my twistouts (although I ended up doing something completely different in this instance!).

My night time maintenance toolkit consists of a moisture spritz (either SheaMoisture or TwistedSista) and my oil mix to seal, as well as some butterfly clips for sectioning.
Starting look

I then flat twist my hair into big twists, usually about 8-10. The goal here is not to retwist the hair, but to try and maintain the curl even whilst re-twisting. I spritz my hair before I twist and then afterwards, but not too much otherwise it won't dry in time for the morning. After spritzing, I seal with my mix of Argan, Coconut and Castor oil. And then I slap on a sexy black silk cap!
My flat twists - the finished look
They wont win any prizes for neatness.
When I got up and took out my twists, I decided to do something a bit different and decided to flat twist Grace into this:

The look was achieved by flat twisting Grace into two big flat twists and then pinning the ends of each twist into the other twist.

Excuse the tired eyes, it was ridiculously early in the morning and I had to get the photos in before heading to work.

My mama decided to get in on the action ha!

Another Takedown

Sorry guys, I've just started a new job and there's been a lot of stuff happening with that so that's why there's been a period of silence. But normal posting shall resume on Tuesdays as normal and as and when during the week as well.

So here is the Takedown of my braids in pictures. I didn't actually do much to my hair when I first took it out on Saturday, I was just so happy that it was out that I just did two big flat twists for church on Sunday and then started the aftercare process.

Grace after the two big flat twists I had done for church were taken out.
The Takedown toolkit

The Takedown toolkit included:

A wide tooth comb (for detangling)
Clips (for sectioning hair)
Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Shampoo (cleanser)
Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner (conditioner)
Vatika Coconut oil (to apply on top of conditioner)
Kinky Curly Knot Today (leave-in conditioner)
Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream (styler for twisting)
Castor/Coconut/Argan Oil mix (to seal in the moisture)

Sectioned my hair into 3 sections before proceeding to finger detangle each section.

I went through the same process basically that I did for the last Takedown process which I documented in this post. So after having washed and conditioned my hair, I sectioned my hair into six sections to begin twisting.

To twist my hair, I would apply the Kinky Curly Knot Today to each section of hair before dividing each section into further little sections and applying the Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream and my oil mix before flat twisting my hair.

Completed flat twists
Once the flat twists were done, I added perm rods to the ends to give them a more curlier look than normal.

And here are the results:

Please excuse the outfit, I was on my way to netball.
The twistout actually was quite defined and very fluffy, thanks to the Cantu Shea Butter cream. I am pleased to note that Grace looks like she's growing quite nicely as my roots very badly need to be redone in terms of colour. I am still debating whether to redo the colour or not - not redoing the colour would serve as a useful measuring tool for my growth...just a thought!

Different angle of curls. Please excuse the slightly petrified expression on my face.

She's back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay!!!!!!!!!!! She's back, Grace has been liberated woo woo woo! Ok, so I'm just a tad bit over-excited but still woo woo! A more detailed post will follow on the takedown process but am just so happy my partner in crime is back that I thought I'd share haha! Ok need to get back to detangling, treatments and showing Gracie just how much I've missed her. Laters!

Bids & Grace - Wedding guests!

Awww so Grace and I went to my friend's wedding on Saturday and it was just so gorgeous! Loved it!!!! The dress code was "glamorous formal" so this was our look. This is one of my favorite dresses ever, I could wear it everyday I love it so much, so simple but yum! Hahaha!

Re Grace in braids, I told you that I would try and do something just a bit more creative with my braids and voila! Well... actually I can't take the credit for this look as this was the handiwork of my dear sister, which I truly appreciate.

Funkiest wedding cake I've seen in a very long time. It was so yummy as well, a combination of carrot cake and normal Victoria sponge. Yum!
